Andrea Tyson,
Counselor-in- Training (C.I.T)
WELCOME!
My name is Andrea!
I’m a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) intern at Beyond the Waves Counseling and Consulting, LLC.
I believe everyone deserves a safe, supportive space where they feel heard, understood, and accepted without judgment. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, parenting concerns, or difficulties managing emotions, my goal is to help you recognize your strengths, develop healthy coping skills, and work toward meaningful change.
My Approach to Therapy
My counseling style is warm, supportive, and person-centered. I believe that every individual has a unique story shaped by their experiences, culture, relationships, and environment. I strive to meet clients where they are, provide individualized support, and create an environment where they feel comfortable exploring their challenges and strengths.
I am passionate about helping children, adolescents, and adults improve emotional regulation, strengthen relationships, build self-esteem, and develop healthier ways to manage life’s challenges.
Education and Experience
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Southern University and A&M College and am currently pursuing my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University, with an emphasis in Childhood and Adolescent Disorders.
I have three years of experience working in behavioral health, specifically supporting children with autism, and three years providing psychosocial rehabilitation services to individuals ranging in age from 6 to 86. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to understanding each person’s unique needs and providing compassionate, individualized support.
My Clinical Interests
My clinical interests include emotional regulation, childhood and adolescent behavioral concerns, anxiety and depression, family and relationship challenges, self-esteem, personal growth, and cultural identity.
Ready to Begin?
You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin your counseling journey. Whether you or your child are navigating a difficult season or you’re looking to better understand yourself, I strive to provide a welcoming space where growth, healing, and meaningful change can begin.
I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward greater emotional wellness.
“Every step toward healing, self-discovery, and emotional balance is a step toward becoming a healthier, more empowered version of yourself.”
